Calderdale identified 13 potential strategic extension sites. You can find out more in their document ‘Justification for the Garden Suburbs’ – please note the document in the library (dated July 2018 is acutally version two – the map was added in 2019)
Why not Halifax?
Halifax is recognised by Calderdale Council, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) and the government as an area of serious economic deprivation.
In 2014 WYCA listed Halifax as Calderdale’s spatial priority area. In the 2020 refresh, Brighouse Garden Village (including Clifton) was added as a ‘mixed use investment location’.
